Military Institute of Armored and Automotive Technology and PZL Defence establish scientific and research cooperation in the implementation of innovative defense solutions

03.09.2025

PZL Defence S.A. and the Military Institute of Armored and Automotive Technology (MIAAT, known in Polish as WITPiS) are launching a cooperation aimed at strengthening Polish technological expertise in the defense sector. The partnership focuses on the development and implementation of innovative solutions, including modern unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), as well as on the exchange of knowledge and experience between science and the industrial sphere.

One of the main areas of cooperation will be modern unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), whose development represents a key component of innovative solutions in the defense sector. Unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) offer significant potential in military operations. They can perform reconnaissance, transport, or threat neutralization tasks in high-risk environments, minimizing personnel exposure. Their development also enables rapid integration with command and control systems, enhancing the flexibility and effectiveness of military operations.

Thanks to this cooperation, both parties will be able to transform research results into concrete technologies more quickly, tailored to the needs of the Polish Armed Forces. It is also an opportunity to jointly promote scientific and research achievements, develop workforce competencies, and build bridges between the research and industrial sectors.

“We are building the capabilities of our new company in the field of advanced defense technologies, and we believe that together with WITPiS we will create solutions that address the real needs of the modern battlefield. Unmanned technologies are playing an increasingly important role in ensuring regional security, and we want the Polish defense industry to hold a strong position in this area,” said Maciej Borecki, president of the management board of PZL Defence.

“Our mission is to combine scientific expertise with military practice. Cooperation with PZL Defence is an important step toward building Poland’s modern defense capabilities. It will allow us to translate research results into real solutions that enhance the safety of our soldiers and the entire country. This partnership makes it possible to create innovative solutions in the field of military technology, becoming a bridge between the research base and the modern battlefield,” emphasized col. dr. eng. Michał Cermuga, Director of WITPiS.

The cooperation also includes the use of WITPiS’s research facilities to support PZL Defence in the process of testing and certifying vehicles intended for the Polish Armed Forces. The Institute will contribute its expertise in conducting quality and reliability tests, ensuring that the solutions under development meet the highest military requirements.
