UNIMOT Group is building a national platform for the defence industry

08.10.2026

UNIMOT has acquired over 34% of the shares in PZL Sędziszów in exchange for 100% of the shares in PZL Defence. The PLN 50 million transaction marks the next stage in UNIMOT Group’s development in the defence sector. The aim is to build an integrated platform combining PZL Sędziszów’s domestic manufacturing and engineering capabilities, PZL Defence’s technological expertise, and UNIMOT Group’s financial resources and international relationships.

On 1 October 2026, UNIMOT acquired a 34.2% stake in PZL Sędziszów S.A. in exchange for all shares in PZL Defence S.A., valued at nearly PLN 50 million. The transaction marks another step towards building a strong position for UNIMOT Group in the defence sector.

“We are Poland’s largest independent multi-energy group, and we are constantly looking for new market segments where we can build our position. The defence sector is one of the areas where we expect growing demand for technologies, production capacity and products in the coming years. I am confident that combining PZL Sędziszów’s manufacturing capabilities, PZL Defence’s expertise, and UNIMOT’s experience and business relationships will enable us to create an integrated platform supporting Poland’s domestic defence industry,” says Adam Sikorski, President of the Management Board of UNIMOT S.A.

PZL Sędziszów brings nearly 90 years of industrial experience to the project, including many years of cooperation with the defence sector. The company holds a licence issued by the Polish Ministry of the Interior and Administration (MSWiA) to manufacture and trade in military-purpose products, including drones, as well as extensive experience in the production of precision components. It also has a well-developed industrial base, laboratory and quality infrastructure, and export experience.

PZL Defence, meanwhile, focuses on advanced defence and dual-use technologies, particularly unmanned aerial systems (UAS), unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), jet engines for UAS, and counter-drone systems. The company develops its own technology projects and cooperates with industrial and research partners.

“We want to combine the factory’s many years of experience in Sędziszów Małopolski with modern technologies, for example in the field of digital design. At the same time, PZL Defence is consistently focusing on research and development, building a team of experts and establishing cooperation with technology partners in Poland and abroad. We are developing our capabilities in areas including unmanned aerial and ground vehicles, jet engines and counter-drone systems. We want our activities to cover both projects that are already under development and new ventures launched as we acquire additional projects and orders,” adds Adam Sikorski.

One of UNIMOT Group’s key projects in the defence segment is the development of the AI-04G turbojet engine in cooperation with Ukrainian aircraft engine design bureau JSC Ivchenko-Progress. The project involves the transfer of technology and know-how, preparation for production in Poland, development of domestic engineering capabilities and, ultimately, the launch of serial production of engines that could be used, among other applications, in unmanned aerial systems.

At the same time, UNIMOT, PZL Defence and US-based Divergent Technologies are exploring the potential use of DAPS technology – an integrated advanced manufacturing system that incorporates, among other technologies, metal 3D printing and robotic assembly. One of the options under consideration is the establishment of the first facility in Europe using this technology in Poland. The application of DAPS technology could help shorten the time required to develop new products, reduce structural weight and enable greater flexibility in adapting manufacturing processes to the growing scale of operations.

UNIMOT Group’s development model for the defence segment envisages the phased rollout of investments, aligned with the scale of operations, orders secured and demand for production capacity. This approach is intended to enable a gradual increase in production capacity as the business grows, without requiring the full investment outlay at the initial stage. The first revenues from the developing business are expected as early as 2026.

Ultimately, the transformation of PZL Sędziszów into PZL Defence Holding is being considered, with the business combining manufacturing capabilities, technology development, research and development projects, and the potential for market consolidation. One of the growth avenues is the acquisition of additional projects and assets, including through potential acquisitions.

The next stage would be to open the platform to the capital markets. Once the appropriate structures have been established and the assets integrated, the plan is to list shares in PZL Defence Holding on the NewConnect market, followed by a move to the main market of the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

“We want to build industrial and technological capabilities in Poland while developing a business model that will allow us to scale up as we secure additional projects and orders. It is crucial for us to combine a domestic industrial base with advanced technologies, international partnerships, and UNIMOT Group’s business and financial expertise. We believe this will provide a solid foundation for further developing our activities in the defence sector,” concludes Adam Sikorski.
