Unimot Energia i Gaz, a subsidiary of Unimot S.A., has signed a full set of agreements with Gaz-System S.A. securing the right to use the second Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) LNG terminal. This marks an important step in the development of the Unimot Group's natural gas business and in building a diversified gas supply portfolio. In the first quarter of 2026, the Unimot Group's natural gas sales increased by approximately 80% year over year, confirming that the company is growing faster than the broader market.
Unimot Energia i Gaz has signed a comprehensive set of agreements with Gaz-System, Poland's gas transmission system operator, securing the right to 12 LNG regasification slots per calendar year for a 15-year period, beginning in 2030. The total value of the agreements amounts to PLN 2.109 billion.
"The regasification capacity we have secured is an important element in building the Unimot Group's position in the natural gas market. Access to LNG infrastructure in the Gdańsk area will strengthen our trading capabilities, enhance the flexibility of our procurement portfolio, and is aligned with the Unimot Group's strategic direction of growth in transition fuels and energy supply security," said Adam Sikorski, President of the Management Board of Unimot S.A.
"In the context of moving away from Russian gas and the growing role of LNG in Central Europe's energy mix, access to regasification capacity is becoming a key element of supply security. Tensions in the Middle East are further destabilizing global LNG flows and serve as a reminder that infrastructure flexibility is now a necessary condition for any responsible market participant. For Unimot, securing regasification capacity is a very important step that will significantly strengthen our position as a reliable and secure energy supplier for customers in the region," said Karol Ilba, President of the Management Board of Unimot Energia i Gaz.
It is worth noting that in Q1 2026 alone, natural gas sales of the Unimot S.A. Group increased by approximately 80% year-on-year, reaching 1.6 TWh. This growth rate was clearly higher than both the increase in domestic natural gas consumption, which rose by about 15% year-on-year according to market data, and the dynamics observed in the main wholesale market segments.
Securing long-term access to FSRU-2 regasification capacity is of strategic importance for the development of the Unimot S.A. Group’s natural gas and LNG business. Cooperation with Gaz-System S.A. will provide the Group with multi-year access to infrastructure enabling LNG imports, thereby increasing its ability to diversify both the sources and routes of gas supply.
About regasification
Regasification is the process of converting liquefied natural gas (LNG – Liquefied Natural Gas) from its liquid state back into a gaseous state, enabling it to be fed into the national gas transmission network and delivered to end users.
One slot refers to the entitlement to use a package of terminal services within a defined time window, including the receipt of a single LNG cargo. This means that Unimot S.A. will be able to handle up to 12 LNG deliveries per year over the entire duration of the agreement.
Each LNG delivery corresponds to approximately 180,000 m³ of LNG, which translates to about 1.17 TWh of natural gas after regasification
About FSRU-2
The agreements were concluded as part of the FSRU-2 Open Season procedure conducted by Gaz-System S.A., concerning the allocation of regasification capacity for a second Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) LNG terminal, which is planned to be located in the Gdańsk area.
The planned service period covers the years 2030–2044, in line with the expected commissioning schedule of the FSRU-2 terminal.
The services under the agreements will be provided within a regulated tariff model, where tariffs are approved by the President of the Energy Regulatory Office (URE). This model, based on a cost-plus methodology, ensures predictable settlement conditions throughout the entire term of the agreements.
Strategic cooperation for energy security
The agreements concluded may, in the future, significantly affect the scale of the Unimot S.A. Group’s activities in the natural gas and LNG segment. The secured regasification capacity is also part of a broader strategy aimed at strengthening the energy security of Poland and the Central and Eastern European region through the development of competitive, diversified, and flexible sources of supply.
The importance of this direction is further confirmed by the Group’s recent accession to LNG Allies, an international association dedicated to the development of the LNG market and strengthening energy security through transatlantic cooperation. Membership in LNG Allies opens new opportunities for Unimot to exchange experience and cooperate with partners from around the world, while also reinforcing the company’s commitment to developing the LNG market as one of the pillars of gas supply diversification.
Poland is one of the most attractive natural gas markets in Central Europe for new supply partnerships. The country has moved away from historical dependence on Russian gas and is developing a diversified supply architecture based on LNG, Norwegian gas, domestic infrastructure, and regional interconnections.
The Baltic Pipe has created a direct corridor linking the Norwegian Continental Shelf with Poland via Denmark, while the planned FSRU terminal in the Gdańsk area will further strengthen Poland’s LNG import capacity and diversify supply routes.
About the natural gas segment
Unimot, through its subsidiary Unimot Energia i Gaz, is among the five largest natural gas suppliers in Poland. The company serves over 1,700 business customers and operates across the entire value chain, including natural gas imports, wholesale trading, distribution, sales, and LNG regasification. The company is active on the Polish Power Exchange (TGE) as well as international markets, strengthening its trading capabilities and market reach.
In 2025, natural gas sales volume reached 3.146 TWh, representing an increase of more than 30% year-on-year. In Q1 2026, sales reached 1.601 TWh, growing by approximately 80% year-on-year, confirming that the company is expanding faster than the broader market.
Natural gas is one of the key pillars of the Group’s multi-energy strategy. The strategic objective for 2024–2028 is to build a position as the largest independent natural gas supplier in Poland, with a targeted segment EBITDA of PLN 82.5 million by 2028.
