RCEkoenergia, a company of the UNIMOT Group, is commencing the modernization of the wastewater treatment plant in Czechowice-Dziedzice. The project involves the implementation of a modern, automated pre-treatment system that will increase the efficiency and stability of the facility’s operations while maintaining its current capacity. The investment will streamline technological processes and reduce the facility’s environmental impact by lowering the volume of discharged pollutants and hazardous waste, ensuring cleaner wastewater outflow. The modernization, scheduled for 2026, is also expected to deliver significant operational cost savings.
The modernization works will cover all key stages of wastewater flow, from the installation of a mechanical screen in the inlet channel, which will automatically remove the largest contaminants, to the installation of a sand washer enabling the removal of organic content to below 3 percent. The mechanical treatment chambers will be converted into an equalization tank, stabilizing wastewater flow and preventing stagnation during periods of low inflow. The project will also include mechanical and chemical treatment. Existing oil, water, and chemical chambers will remain on standby, with their function taken over by a flotation unit, ensuring more efficient pre-treatment while maintaining the required throughput. In addition, a new chemical preparation station will be built, enabling precise and safe dosing of chemical agents.
As a result of the investment, processes will become more fully automated, required quality parameters will be easier to maintain, and chemical consumption will be significantly reduced. Thanks to a remote control system, employees will be able to monitor the treatment plant in real time, increasing safety and enabling faster response to changes in wastewater flow. The installation of the sand washer will significantly reduce the amount of hazardous waste requiring costly disposal, while stabilized wastewater flow will translate into more predictable and efficient operation of the entire facility. The main beneficiaries of the treatment plant’s services are companies operating in the area of the former Czechowice Refinery.
“The modernization of our facility is an investment in modernity, efficiency, and environmental responsibility. We plan to implement solutions that will improve the quality of technological processes, reduce resource consumption, and increase operational safety. As a result, the installation will operate more stably and more cleanly, while also allowing us to achieve significant operational savings,” says Włodzimierz Popielewski, President of the Management Board of RCEkoenergia.
The investment is in line with the UNIMOT Group’s strategy, which focuses on continuously improving operational efficiency, reducing operating costs, and developing activities consistent with the principles of sustainable development. The implementation of the project in Czechowice-Dziedzice will be another step toward more sustainable and modern management of water and wastewater infrastructure.
